Staffbook is an end-to-end product to assist in scheduling, paying and keeping traveling nurses compliant with their credentials and licenses. A large traveling nurse service provider needed a system where their traveling nurses could view opportunities, bid on places that they would like to work and how much time and schedule the exact shifts they wanted to take. Providing a backend workflow for Hospitals to manage their shifts, nurses to signup for shifts and locations and the client to pay their employees and keep their nurses in compliance is a very complicated task and automating this with mobile app and could infrastructure was the exact solution they were looking for.
STAFFBOOK: A Mobile App & Feature Rich Platform for Healthcare Providers
The challenge was to build a platform for the client that allowed them to manage their traveling nurses. The platform also needed to keep track of timesheets as well as all the compliance regulations required by the healthcare industry. Hospitals also needed access to manage their shifts and offers for traveling nurses to come in times of need. On the nurse side, a mobile app would give them quick access to openings at locations and hospitals where they had interest. They would receive alerts on compliance tasks that needed attention.
Our team used the latest technology available such as React Native, NodeJS, VueJS and AWS Cloud services to build a scaleable and highly available product. Separating UI and Server using API and modern tech such as GraphQL and NodeJS was important for ease of software maintenance into the future.
This project took over 2 years to complete with many twists and turns around healthcare requirements and making it as easy as possible for both nurses and hospitals to get what they needed for improving their access to shift openings, time tracking and invoicing.
The end result was a highly maintainable platform and mobile app which was easy to use and instantly gave value to our client’s customers and their staff. The success of the project was due to our clients openness and availability to communicate requirements and give feedback during our weekly calls for how features needed to operate.
